Miniature HighPark Cattle

What is a Miniature HighPark Cow?

A Miniature HighPark cow is a small, selectively bred cattle breed known for its distinctive white coat with black, red, or dun markings, often appearing on the ears, nose, and eyes. Developed by crossing Scottish Highlands, White Park cattle, and other miniature breeds, these designer cattle are cherished for their fluffy coats, manageable size, and gentle temperament.

They typically stand under 42 inches at the shoulder when fully grown, with some classified as Micro-Mini if they are under 36 inches. Their compact build, short legs, and rounded body make them both hardy and visually appealing.

Bred for their docile and affectionate nature, Miniature HighPark cows make excellent farm pets, homestead companions, and even therapy animals. They are highly social, enjoy human interaction, and are easy to train, which has contributed to their growing popularity among hobby farmers and animal enthusiasts.

Why a Miniature HighPark?

Miniature HighPark cows have become highly sought after for petting zoos, hobby farms, and family-friendly homesteads, where they are often kept as companion animals rather than traditional livestock. Their adorable, fluffy appearance and manageable size make them an appealing choice for those looking to add a unique and affectionate animal to their property. Whether for companionship, small-scale farming, or simply as a lovable addition to a homestead, Miniature HighPark cows offer a charming and rewarding experience for their owners.

Their care requirements are similar to other small cattle breeds, needing adequate pasture space, fresh water, and a balanced diet of grass and hay. Due to their thick double-layered coat, they are well-suited for colder climates but may require occasional grooming and shade in warmer temperatures to prevent overheating.

Our Cow Philosophy

At Bluebird Family Farm, we take great pride in the time and care we dedicate to conditioning our Miniature HighPark calves to be comfortable with human interaction. From a young age, we focus on creating a gentle, trusting relationship with each calf, ensuring they grow up accustomed to being touched, petted, and loved.

Our approach involves gradual exposure to human touch, along with plenty of positive reinforcement, so that they feel safe and relaxed around people. By investing this extra care into their early socialization, we ensure that our HighPark calves develop docile, affectionate temperaments, making them ideal companions for families, hobby farms, and petting zoos.

We believe that a well-loved calf grows into a calm and friendly adult, and we are dedicated to giving them the best start possible to become beloved additions to your home or farm.
